Internally VG. Top of title page- signature in ink of Caspar Morris (1805-1884). Morris, son of Israel Wistar (1778-1870) and Mary Hollingsworth (1776-1820), a descendent of a prominent seventeenth-century Philadelphia family, received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1826. He helped establish the Pennsylvania Institute for the Blind, Protestant Episcopal Hospital, the House of Refuge, and the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. His oldest son, James Cheston Morris (1831-ca 1923), mother Ann Cheston (1810-1880), received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1854. He was a physician with the Foster Home for Children, Moyamensing House of Industry, the Episcopal Hospital and served as contract physician for the Union Army (October 1862 August 1863). SARTAIN (también con papel seda protector). Estas últimas ilustraciones de JOHN SARTAIN, apuntan a ser sus pioneros en la técnica del Grabado Mezzotint, de gran belleza. Este afamado artista estadounidense de origen inglés, estudiaría pintura con JOHN VARLEY Y HENRY JAMES RICHTER, y fue íntimo amigo y editor de EDGAR ALLAN POE. La obra que se ofrece presenta Ilustre Sello Exlibris en hoja frontis interior edición, A. de IBARRETA, con numeración manuscrita a pluma 313 de catalogación, igualmente A. Ybarreta a plumilla en misma hoja. igualmente Exlibris firma bellamente manuscrita a pluma ahora en primera guarda de cortesía, Uagón Manuel. Este ejemplar pues, tuvo que ser de la Biblioteca personal de Adolfo de Ibarreta y Ferrer y de María Isabel Dolores Petra de Uhagón y Vedia, en base al Exlibris del frontis. Y queremos pensar que la impronta manuscrita de la guarda, bien pudiera ser de su hijo, el Ilustre Explorador y Guerrillero Vasco, PEDRO ENRIQUE JOAQUIN MANUEL de IBARRETA UHAGON, o de igual modo, también pudiera ser de su abuelo Manuel Antonio Uhagon Hodetegui Olea (abuelo por parte materna). Sea como fuere, ilustres improntas o exlibris, y obra que con seguridad el ilustre explorador vasco tuvo en sus manos, probablemente en sus años adolescentes y en su estancia en Londres donde aprendió idiomas, y a tenor de la edición, que acaso le sirvió de musa inspiradora de su futuro. No daremos aquí cuenta de las hazañas o cuitas de este Explorador Vizcaíno por Iberoamérica, de éllas ya dieron cuenta PIO BAROJA, BLASCO IBAÑEZ y la Historia. Ilustre Exlibris.
