Condition: VG. 7pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 7 drawings by Tracy, engraved by Gaston Fay, salvaged from a damaged issue of The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, Volume XXXI, No. 6, April 1886. Sections include The Pug, King Charles Spaniels, The Blenheim Spaniel, The Japanese Spaniel, The Italian Greyhound, The Yorkshire Terrier, and Toy Terriers. From the opening paragraph, "Under the general term of toy dogs are classified all the smaller breeds kept as pets of the household. The date of the introduction of these diminutive specimens is as difficult to determine as the origin of the breeds." Illustrations include the English Toy Terrier, English Pug, Mexican Hairless Dog, King Charles and Blenheim Spaniels, Japanese Pug, Yorkshire Terriers, and Skye Terrier. Housed in protective mylar report cover. J. M. Tracy (illustrator).
