Condition: Fair. 1872. No Edition Remarks. 285 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt lettering. Rough-cut pages. Ex Libris plate to front pastedown. Light staining, foxing and moderate tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutters causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached; cracking to hinges much lighter. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft splitting and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Moderate liquid stain to back free endpaper, pastedown and fore edges textblock. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Gilt lettering is darkened. Visible wear marks to boards.

The most unusual part is the illustrated Victorian adverts to rear of Schultz wood gunpowder, 4 illustrations of Broughham carriage & landau's made by J. Thomas Pearce (1820-85), writing under the pseudonym,'Idstone,' was a clergyman, who held four curacies and then two livings, and was an authority on dogs, being a breeder of champion setters. Illustrated by George Earl (1824-1808), sportsman and artist, specialising in the painting of sporting dogs. The first edition was published 1872.
