paperback. Condition: Fine. Our Like New books are generally New, but we do not have an invoice from publishers therefore have to list as Like New rather than New. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.…

Condition: Good. - Approximately 200 words penned on 10 inch high by 7-7/8 inch wide creamy white paper with a simple decorative blind stamp at top left. A "Bill of Sale", so titled as a heading, by which Hartman Vreeland transfers ownership of the sloop "Locomotive" to Samuel F. Tracy, a New York City merchant. "Know all men by these present, that I, Hartman Vreeland, of the County of Hudson, State of New Jersey, Landsman, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars, to me in hand paid by Samuel F. Tracy, of the City, County, & State of New York. Sell and deliver unto the said Samuel F. Tracy, the Sloop named the Locomotive of Bergen, together with all the Sails, Rigging, Anchors, and appertances [sic], there unto belonging, to have and to hold the said Sloop, with all her tackle unto the said Samuel F. Tracy." Signed "Hartman Vreeland" at bottom right with the remnants of a red seal lightly covered by tissue paper. it is witnessed and signed by A. E. Osborn. The document is docketed on the verso "Hartman Vreeland / Bill of Sale / Sloop 'Locomotive' / 31 May 1850" and also "Bill of Sale / Hartman Vreeland / to / Samuel F. Tracy". Folded several times, horizontally and vertically, with short tears to the edges of the horizontal folds. The document is slightly soiled & darkened and the word "sails" is smudged. Good. Purchased by the New York City merchant Samuel F. Tracy, the sloop "Locomotive" sank in the Hudson River opposite Saugerties, New York on August 5th, 1887. Though the ship sank to a depth of 43 feet, its mast and boom where nonetheless above water and posed a risk to navigation. Considered to endanger navigation, the Chief of Engineers ordered it be removed by hired labor on October 28th of that year at a cost of $317.94.…

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. "Hear; see; smell; touch and taste all that you encounter." A healthy appetizer of meditation is a delicious beginning; a palate-cleansing gelato. Clearing one's mind, much like clearing the palate, will provide a significant improvement in your sense of taste. Learning to relax, being led through gentle breathing exercises, experiencing the calmness of becoming less aware of "usual" thoughts and exercising your mind's ability to let thoughts "come and go." Mindfulness allows you to further focus on the "here and now." The emphasis is on that millisecond between past and future, further allowing you to examine strengths and weaknesses in relation to future relationships and life challenges. In addition to these new insights, nonjudgmental self-observation of one's life history through Naikan can readily improve your relationships and enhance the quality of your future. Get Connected presents a brief introduction to meditation, mindfulness and the Japanese introspective method of Naikan. It provides definitions of each and guidelines for practice. It challenges you to use them in daily life. The consistent emphasis is on the here and now. It is to be thought of as an immediate, in-the-moment encounter to influence the quality of your future relationships with self and others. Get Connected encourages you to be skeptical, yet open; curious, yet cautious, about forgiveness, mindfulness and the intense self-reflection of Naikan. Meditation and Mindfulness are probably relatively familiar practices to you. However, Naikan may well be a new concept. Developed in Japan in the early twentieth century, Naikan advances your ability to focus on past and present relationships. It combines meditation and mindfulness with the answers to three questions: what gifts have I received from another person, what gifts have I given them and what trouble have I caused them. The answers to these questions will prompt new and long ignored memories of these past relationships. New awareness is developed which allows for significant positive thoughts and feelings regarding past, present and future relationships and life challenges. In my work I have added group discussion and person-to-person interaction, which further enhances the quality of the experience. It is anticipated that your curiosity will open you to additional readings and experiences in your future. Read and enjoy: focus on practicing meditation, mindfulness and Naikan. The results will be astonishing! You will not be disappointed! Anticipate a life changing experience! No lie! This item is printed on demand. Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. From prostitutes to polygamy, witches to widows, foreigners to slaves, the Bible is full of texts about women who have been classified as other and pushed to the margins of society. In the academy, feminist, liberation and post-colonial theologians have challenged the disparaging categorization of these biblical women and redefined them as sacred insiders, whose contributions to Judeo-Christian history offer ongoing lessons about the inclusive nature of God. Letting the Other Speak: Proclaiming the Stories of Biblical Women helps pastors, Christian educators, professors and theological students bring the stories of six controversial biblical women to congregations by surveying historical and contemporary exegetical work on each passage, modeling exegeting a congregation in preparation for moving from text to sermon, and providing two sample sermons, one prophetic and one pastoral, for each text.
