Condition: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Seiten: 274 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | This book, first published in 1988, examines the impact of multinational companies on the British economy and the British government's policy responses. It assesses the effects of multinationals both on the national economy and on different regions and evaluates the benefits and problems brought by overseas companies. It looks at how government has attempted to entice multinationals to invest, and the UK government's success in these attraction efforts as compared with other countries. Regulatory aspects of policy are also reviewed and evaluated, and consideration is given to possible new policy approaches. This title will be of interest to students of business studies.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near fine. First edition. An association copy, inscribed on the second blank: "For Jim [Harrison], gassho! Sam Hamill." With several Chinese characters as well. Uncommon signed, and an uncommon book in general despite a stated run of 1,500 copies. From the library of poet-novelist Jim Harrison in Livingston, MT. A nice association considering Harrison's interest in Asian literature and religion, as well as the fact that Sam Hamill was the co-founder of Copper Canyon Press which took on Harrison later in his life and continues to champion his work. Hamill was a poet and a prolific, important translator. Harrison remarked, "Hamill has reached the category of a National Treasure." This book is handsome collection of translations of two classical Chinese poets from the fourth and twelfth century, respectively. Handset and printed on Strathmore Brigadoon. Black cloth with a silver title; a black jacket of quality paper. Very good on account of a little sunning to board edges near the spine and two spots of the cloth worn away on the lower inner edges below the pastedowns; a near fine jacket. A book that feels great in the hand. One of Coffee House Press's earliest titles (they were founded in 1984).

Hamill was a poet and a prolific, important translator. Correspondence Archive. Condition: Near Fine. 17 items total: 13 TLS, 2 ALS, and 2 APCS. Items listed individually below. This collection documents the administrative and social structure of the Port Townsend, Washington literary scene during its foundational years. The correspondence centers on Cheryl Van Dyke in her role as manager of The Imprint, a bookstore that functioned as a primary hub during Centrum Foundation's annual Writers' Conference at Fort Worden State Park. The letters are often in response to Van Dyke's inquiries regarding bookshop stock to support conference lectures and workshops; they frequently evolve into warm, personal exchanges that reveal the close-knit nature of this regional symposium. This material originates from the personal papers of Cheryl Van Dyke, a poet and artist whose early collection, Cheat Grass, was a cornerstone of the emerging Copper Canyon Press catalog. As an essential figure in the region's fine press circles, Van Dyke's stewardship of The Imprint made the shop a vital setting where established writers and burgeoning Pacific Northwest voices intersected. Condition is uniformly Very Good to Near Fine, showing only occasional light edgewear or minor corner creasing consistent with professional handling. 17 pieces of correspondence. No envelopes present. Organized here chronologically: 1- Hugo, Richard ("Dick"). APCS to Cheryl Van Dyke. Missoula, MT. Postmarked December 17, 1975. Postcard [3.25" x 5.5"].
