Soft cover. Condition: New. 233 pages : illustrations (some color), maps ; 23 cm. THIS SYMPOSIUM was part of the co-operation between the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. 'The contributions elucidate the chosen topic - this time the capitals Stockholm and Belgrade - from various angles and with various scientific perspectives. The Swedish researchers discuss Stockholm through factors of spatial differentiation, immigration and urban policy, real and imagined borders, modernist architecture, music and cultural diversity, the management plan for the urban national park, growth and stagnation in the history of Stockholm, and Stockholm in literature. Most of the Serbian contributions take up the situation at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st, such as the social and political grounds of the destruction of the built environment of Belgrade, the socio-demographic development, the search for a new musical practice of the immigrants/refugees in Belgrade, and reflections on the history of Belgrade in the 1990s. Other contributions concern modernism in the planning and construction of New Belgrade as we11 as literary life in Belgrade.…

Soft cover. Condition: New. 258 pages ; 23 cm. The articles published in this volume were presented at the joint Swedish-Polish conference entitled "Swedish-Polish Modernism. Literature - Language - Culture" that took place in Cracow, Poland, April 20-2 1, 2001. Even if Swedish - or in a wider perspective - Scandinavian literature at the turn of the twentieth century was one of the most important sources of inspiration for Polish modernism, modernism still constitutes an interesting but at the same time somewhat unclear and problematic phenomenon for Swedish and Polish researchers. Both in Swedish and Polish literature - but for completely different reasons - there is an ongoing discussion about not only the origin, features and different periods of modernism, but also its actual existence and effect on the cultures and literatures of both countries. One of the goals of the conference therefore was to answer some of the important questions regarding the relation between, for example, modernism and avant-garde; modernism and modernity; and modernism and post-modernism etc. The contributions to the conference deal not just with modernism in the cultures of the two countries, but also, and above all, with the nature of modernism in the literatures of neighbouring countries, that is, Swedish, Polish, Finland-Swedish and, in one contribution, Russian modernism, all seen from a Scandinavian and a Polish perspective.…

Upplaga endast 200 exemplar. Richly illustrated monograph in Swedish devoted to Art Nouveau engraver of coins and medals Sven Kulle (1860-1945). Richly illustrated in colour, hardbound in publisher's boards, as new. With catalogue of Kulle's medals and plaquettes. Edition limited to just 200 copies.
