La siguiente obra estudia la serie de televisión española "Historias para no Dormir," la cual se emitió por Televisión Española durante los años 1966-1968 con una tercera temporada en el año 1982. La tesis de la presente investigación indica que el marco fantástico de la serie y las diferentes historias permitió filtrar una crítica muy mordaz hacia la sociedad de la época en general y al franquismo en particular. Utilizando la ciencia ficción y el terror como alegorías, los diferentes capítulos de la serie negociaron con una sociedad, la de los sesenta, que vivía bajo la sombra de la dictadura, alienada en sus derechos hasta el punto de que se normalizaba el recorte de libertades individuales. Así, niños monstruosos son diseminadores de ideas amenazantes en La bodega y El muñeco, metaforizando la realidad de niños aprendiendo la doctrina franquista en las escuelas e iglesias. El mirar hacia otro lado antes que ayudar al vecino en problemas, típica actitud presente en gobiernos fascistas, está materializada dentro de lo fantástico en La cabina y El asfalto, mientras que la sociedad de consumo puede observarse, metaforizada, en El televisor. Por supuesto, no faltan las criticas concretas al fascismo como en La sonrisa, tamizada como una distopía. De hecho, el mismo creador de la serie, Narciso Ibáñez Serrador, dividía explícitamente los capítulos de la serie en "historias para no dormir" e "historias para pensar. " Sin embargo, la crítica social estaba presente n la mayoría de los episodios.
