Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP, MDCCCCXI on the title page). 80 Plates. I turned over every page and all 80 are present and in excellent condition. Some have one or two small tan spots at their white margin, most don't. The first section contains descriptions of all the plates. All of these pages (1 to 121) are exceptionally clean. I may have missed something, but I didn't see any spots or soiling at all. A bump at the front top corner of the covers did create a corresponding crease below the top corners of these papers, far from the print. Page 125 through to page 132 contains the various Indexes. The next section is the presentation of the Plates. The verso side of each plate is blank and in between the pages with the plates there is a bound-in tissue guard. So you have the blank verso of Plate I, then Plate I, then the tissue guard, then Plate II, then two blank facing pages, then Plate III, and so on. All of the tissue guards are present. All are bound-in, none are loose. The condition of the tissue guards is very good. I don't think I saw any tears. Most are free of creasing, a relatively small number have corner creases, a few have more significant creasing. This is the case with the tissue guard between the frontispiece and the title page. A small number of the tissue guards have a little tan spot or two. The aforementioned top corner crease continues through the section of Plates, generally getting lighter and lighter, never reaching the plates themselves. There are no markings in the book. There are no attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. The page edges look pretty good. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. You can see the covers in the photos. The front and rear look clean. There is some toning at the margins of the rear cover. The gilt lettering on the spine is still fairly bright. The red of the spine is dulled. There is also some soiling on the spine (second photo. There is wear at both spine ends, little tears and a couple of tiny spots of rub-through. There is a bump/crease at the rear top corner and at both corners on the front. The cover edges look very good, no rub-through, just a very tiny bit of superficial rubbing at the two bottom ones. Three of the corners have some crinkling from the bumps, but I don't see any rub-through, just a little bit of superficial rubbing. The book is square and the spine looks pretty straight. The front cover has a little bit of give if you pull on it from the side but there is no space between the front inside cover and front end paper (the first of the two front end papers has some tanning, as does one side of the rear end paper, no soiling on them. Both inside covers are very clean and free of tanning). The binding of the pages seems pretty solid throughout. I didn't find any conspicuous issues. There is a very thin space between two of the blank facing versos near the end of the book (both pages are tightly bound from top to bottom. The rear cover is solidly bound, no issues there. It feels like this book should not be this inexpensive but I am pricing it competitively.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book passionately analyzes Bellini's paintings to form a coherent narrative of his life and work. It positions his art within the broader context of Venetian and Paduan art during the Italian Renaissance and explores the historical and cultural context of his masterpieces through the eyes of a modern-day critic. The intricate symbolism, thematic depth, and philosophical ideas embedded within Bellini's work are examined closely, drawing the reader into the radiant yet humble universe of a man who sought to portray divine truths through earthly beauty. With access to the artist's personal documents and a trained eye for visual storytelling, the author unravels the influences that shaped Bellini's artistic vision, and celebrates his unique role in the rich tapestry of Italian art history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
