Robert Wright with an inscription d. October 2018. Frank Griswold was the 25th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. Griswold notably presided over the ordination of Gene Robinson as the first openly gay bishop in any major denomination. Robinson's appointment immediately precipitated the 'Anglican Realignment', a movement of conservative parishes removing themselves from the governance of the Episcopal Church and aligning themselves with alternative oversight withing the broader Anglican Communion under a province now known as the Anglican Church in North America or 'ACNA'. These departing bishops and congregations sought to retain their properties and buildings.
