Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Book Club Edition. Book of the Month Club (BOMC) better than usual quality printing. A nice and newish unread book with stiff spine, rigid boards and pointed tips. Tiny smudge on top of text block. Jacket has tiny tear at bottom spine back. Looks great in its new plastic b…ook protector. A great edition that gives a cross section of excellent mystery writers for someone who thought about getting into the mystery genre but hasn't yet done so.

Softcover. Australia's largest city, Sydney, has always been a focus for cultural diversity. Much of this was concealed as an emerging nation sought to create its image as a society predominantly white, masculinist, and 'respectable'. These essays explores some of the different minorities that have enriched the city, and influen…ced its culture, society and politics. Good condition. Slight tanning on outside page edges. {"length"=>["23"], "width"=>["15"], "units"=>["Centimeters"]}.

2nd ed. Paperback large wide octavo, very good condition, maps, black & white text-photos, glossy paper, adverts, bottom corner front cover lightly creased, minor edgewear. 144 pp. Shirley Fitzgerald relates how the story begins in convict times when William Chippendale shot a man for stealing his potato crop. This fertile and w…ell watered area was coveted by industrialists who manufactured Sydney's sugar, beer and gin. Pollution, planning disasters, illegal subdivisions, substandard buildings, and floods poured filth into the unsewared slums, all contributing to degrade Chippendale throughout the 19th century. Chippendale today, cut off by busy thoroughfares between Central Station and Sydney University, attracts residents to quiet but cluttered streets because of its closeness to the city centre and educational institutions. The first volume in the Sydney History Project sponsored by the Council of the City of Sydney. (Originally published in 1990. This second edition, sponsored by the City of Sydney History Project, has been slightly revised and updated, and with a postscript added.).
