Eine Autorität auf dem Gebiete der tierischen Gifte, entdeckte er auch das Sepsin (Faust, «Über das Fäulnisgift Sepsin», 1904), wies zum erstenmal die immunisatorische Wirkung der abiureten Gifte nach, befasste sich mit der Wirkung des Morphins im tierischen Organismus und mit synthetischen Herzmitteln, besonders mit syntetischem Digitalis.?
