Print on Demand. This book provides an overview of animal toxins, with a focus on those produced by snakes. It begins by classifying animal toxins based on their origin and pharmacological properties, including their effects on the nervous system, muscles, and cardiovascular system. The author discusses how animal toxins have been used throughout history, both as weapons and as medicines. The majority of the book is dedicated to snake venoms, their physiological effects, and the clinical management of snakebite victims. The author provides detailed descriptions of the major families of venomous snakes, including vipers, cobras, and sea snakes, discussing their evolutionary relationships, habitats, and the characteristics of their venoms. The final chapter explores the potential therapeutic applications of snake venoms, including their use in the development of new drugs for the treatment of pain and other conditions. This book is an authoritative and comprehensive resource for anyone interested in the fascinating world of animal toxins, particularly snake venoms, and their significance in medicine and pharmacology. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
