Upper corner tips bumped, red top edge coloring faded and spotted in places, else a very good plus copy in gilt-stamped blue cloth; in the original illustrated dust jacket that is near fine showing only modest edge wear. Front fla…p price of $2.50 intact. Cover art by the author. Ernest Charles Large (1902-1976) was an English industrial chemist, writer, and plant scientist, best known for his book THE ADVANCE OF THE FUNGIi (1940). He wrote several novels of science fiction with SUGAR IN THE AIR being a near classic work considered by Clute and Nichols as "A notable and original science fiction novel." A fantastic satire on contemporary modern science in its application to "big business" as a young engineer invents a method of extracting sugar from the air and the resulting "wild riot of promoting" that follows. Also noted in Locke, Bleiler, Reginald, Stableford, Tuck, and Anatomy of Wonder.

The Book of Practical Radio
Scott-Taggart, John [Wing Commander John Scott-Taggart OBE, MC (1897 - 1979) was a British radio engineer who served with distinction in both World Wars, applying his technical expertise firstly in radio, and then in radar, to the war efforts. However, he was best known for his work in the inter-war years, where he became a leading writer of magazine articles and books on radio topics, gaining particular notability with the public for the many popular radio sets he designed for the large home constructor market].
