A very impressive example of the first 13 volumes (of 28 published so far --30 all told are planned) in this extraordinary, sweeping collection of letters to and from Charles Darwin. All 13 volumes are in gorgeous condition, each tight and Fine in a crisp, Near Fine to Fine dustjacket. The first 13 volumes were published between 1985 and 2002 and all but one of them (Vol. 1) are 1st editions. Octavos, the general editors of this ambitious project are Frederick Burkhardt and Sydney Smith (who passed away midway thru, to be replaced by Duncan M. Porter).
