This history of motor racing covers the origins and development of the sport up to the late 1950s. The complete orbit of the sport from the design, construction, testing and competition is covered. Text is provided by a large group of expert writers, each one examining the topic in their sphere of expertise. Apart from the expected content these include contributions on racing dress evolution and events promotion.
