Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book gives an extensive look at the progression of the U.S. government's involvement with commercial and trade regulations. The author provides historical context, explaining that before the revolution, American colonists were subject to British commercial regulations. Following independence, the Continental Congress regulated trade matters, though without authority. The Articles of Confederation gave no regulatory power to Congress leading to economic strife. The Constitution, ratified in 1789, changed this, granting Congress the power to regulate trade, with the ultimate authority resting with the President. Various departments were established to implement these powers, with the Department of Commerce, created in 1903, consolidating many into a singular department. The book thoroughly explores these departments, their functions, and their significance in regulating commerce. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
