Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book tells the life story of famed Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen, and the context of his life's work within the era he lived in. It is not just a biography; the book delves deep into Nansen's personality, exploring the fabric of his character to determine what drove him to succeed in seemingly impossible feats of endurance and survival in his expeditions. The author draws parallels between Nansen's personality and the work of his ancestors, going back several generations, tracing the strong will, adventurous spirit, and physical resilience that characterized his unrelenting character. The book emphasizes how Nansen's early life, shaped by his upbringing and family dynamics, fostered these traits, enabling him to endure hardships and challenges on his path to becoming one of the world's foremost polar explorers. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
