Si narra dei suoi rapporti con Riano, paese del quale era principe, e di quelli, più indiretti, con il duca d'Altemps e con Bocchineri, poeta di Prato, fino ad avvenimenti meno noti, come la spedizione Thornton promossa dai Medici per costituire una colonia nel Nuovo Mondo e la nascita del melodramma. La narrazione si fa a tratti allusiva, evocativa di problematiche che appaiono straordinariamente attuali. Libro.
