G., cuyo diseño constructivista es obra del artista uruguayo Augusto Torres, hijo de Joaquín Torres García. Encuadernación en pasta española con títulos dorados, en excelente estado. La obra fue escrita en 1869, luego de su presidencia, y editada en 1887. Para su realización Mitre utilizó los documentos personales del prócer que se encontraban en Europa, facilitados por Mariano Balcarce, esposo de Mercedes San Martín. Junto con su biografía de Manuel Belgrano, es ésta una de las primeras y más importantes obras de la historiografía argentina, base de la llamada historia mitrista. ills (illustrator).
