The text block and illustrations are in near fine condition with no tears, dog-ears, or marks. There is no bookplate or name of a prior owner. Not a library item or remainde…r. The wraps are in very good condition (some smudges on the taped binding of the spine). 8 ½ x 5 ½, 36 pages, 5 ounces XX [From the text] Arol Wulf cofounder of the Zendik Tribe in 1969 considers herself a farmer, revolutionary, dancer, artist and writer. She is 50 years old and is a self-taught naturalist, herbalist and healer. This book is a collection of various writings over a five-year period. XX Contents: Cowboys And Other Thoughts, Summer of The Snake, Postscript, Horse Heaven, Kitchen Creek, A Passion for Farming, Coyote Dogs, Indian Caves and The Mountains of Rock, The Topanga Stream, Roses, Desert Mood, Moons and The Lake, Simba, Coyote, Crow and Rabbit, The Living Process, Returning to The Divide. [From Wikipedia] Zendik Farm, officially known as Zendik Farm Arts Cooperative, was an intentional community of artists and assorted craftspeople that went through several iterations and locations between 1969 and 2013. They presented themselves as a living laboratory for a way of living based on a feeling of reverence for the Earth; and supported themselves through the sale of literature and merchandise promoting their beliefs and displaying their artistic statements. It was founded by Wulf Zendik (1920-1999) (previously known as Lawrence E. Wulfing), poet, novelist, philosopher, and musician. He was born in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in pre-WW II Los Angeles. While living in a bohemian boarding house in Los Angeles during the early '60s, Wulfing met Carol Merson Weinberg (1938-2012). She was an aspiring actress born in Brooklyn, NY. She dropped the 'C' from her first name and became Arol Wulfing (later Arol Wulf), while Wulfing took the name Wulf Zendik. Zendik is a Sanskrit language word for outlaw or heretic. The two were convinced that humanity was heading in the wrong direction which prompted them to move in together at a small ranch near Perris, California owned by Wulf's parents; and created Zendik Farm there in 1969. The commune first housed roughly 5 people in huts that were made up of plywood and carpeting that had been taken from dumpsters. At its peak there were as many as 60 people there, living in school buses and trailers. XX They reconstituted their commune in various places over the next 43 years: Florida, California [Temecula, Bonsall, Topanga, Boulevard], Texas [Austin, Bastrop], North Carolina, West Virginia. Wulf died in 1999 and Arol in 2012, which led to the disbanding of the group in 2013. They considered themselves radical environmentalists and made most of their money off publications and t-shirts. While in Bastrop, they had an Austin public access TV show.

Add to basketWraps. Condition: Very Good. no date, circa 2000. Wraps. 8 pp. Black and white illustrations throughout. A zine style piece published by Arol Zendik, a founder of the Zendik Farm commune. This zine discussed the Ecolibrium Revolutionary Alliance formed by Arol Zendik and the group's efforts to combat pollution and environmental…harm. This appears to be part of Zendik Farm's transition into a more militant group. Zendik Farm was originally established as a small commune in Southern California in the 1960s. Discouraged by the way they perceived society to be going, the Zendiks established a small compound that relocated to various places in California, Florida, Texas and North Carolina throughout the various decades. They evolved into a militant ecoenvironmentalist group with a focus on art and music, and viewed the outside world as "squares.' VERY GOOD condition. Minor general wrinkling.
