Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Doctor to the Mouse: Updated Stories from a Walt Disney World PhysicianBy Anthony M. Rizzo, M.D.In Doctor to the Mouse, Dr. Anthony Rizzo invites readers behind the literal curtain of 'The Most Magical Place on Earth,' offering a rare, clinical, and often surprising perspective on the inner workings of Walt Disney World. As a former active-duty Air Force surgeon turned Disney Executive and occupational physician, Rizzo's narrative bridges the gap between high-stakes medicine and the meticulous art of 'the show'.Through a series of fascinating vignettes, Rizzo pulls back the veil on the physical and psychological toll of 'being the magic'. Readers are treated to an insider's tour of iconic attractions-from the hidden elevators of the Haunted Mansion and the physics-defying drops of the Tower of Terror to the hazardous, high-speed costume changes in the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. With a physician's eye for 'mechanisms of injury,' Rizzo details the weight of Belle's fifty-pound gold ball gown and the punishing physical demands placed on the petite performers who bring Mickey and Minnie to life.Beyond the operating rooms and backstage 'zoos,' Rizzo provides a candid look at the friction between creative ambition and engineering reality, the complex ethics of corporate 'exclusive' contracts, and the often-bizarre behavior of celebrities and guests alike. Doctor to the Mouse is more than just a collection of 'Disney trivia'; it is a deeply human tribute to the individuals who maintain the illusion of magic while enduring real-world challenges. Whether he is treating a terminal child's 'dying wish' or navigating the secret tunnels beneath the Magic Kingdom, Rizzo proves that the real magic isn't in the pyrotechnics, but in the people. The cast is the magic.…

Neuware - Sociopaths, Cheeseburgers, and the 'See One, Do One, Teach One' Terror: Brutal Surgical Training of the 70s and 80sCheeseburger Pneumonia. And Other Surgery Stories offers candid insights into Dr. Anthony Rizzo's experiences during his medical school and residency training in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as his later career as a military and civilian surgeon. Rather than recounting his entire life story, Dr. Rizzo focuses on the unsupervised, often harsh medical training he endured, sharing shocking anecdotes about medical errors, the challenges of working in a male-dominated environment, and the ethical dilemmas he faced while treating patients. The narrative begins with his very first surgery involving a bizarre rectal foreign object. It progresses to tackle complex cases and administrative conflicts, such as the requirement for mandatory open-chest cardiac massage during his residency. It also covers his service as an Air Force surgeon at locations such as the Azores.Throughout the text, a clear contrast is evident between past and present medical practices, and Dr. Rizzo emphasizes the profound lessons learned from these difficult experiences. The book contains graphic images of surgical procedures.…
