Dos tachés avec minimes accrocs, p…etit manque de papier à l'angle supérieur gauche du plat inférieur du tome I, rousseurs claires éparses. ÉDITION ORIGINALE pour le tome I et seconde édition pour le tome II : elles sont aussi RARES l'une que l'autre. Il s'agit d'un ensemble de HUIT MÉMOIRES concernant les EAUX DES PYRÉNÉES. Le second volume contient DEUX PLANCHES dépliantes de vues : «Bains d'Arles » et «Bains de la Preste », dessinées par N. Maurin et lithographiées par Villain. L'édition originale ne contient pas de planches illustrées d'après la collation de Dendaletche. Labarère ne mentionne pas l'édition de 1827 et décrit celle de 1833 (XL-383 pages et 4 lithographies hors-texte pour le tome I) ; il mentionne également pour le tome II, en plus des deux planches de vues, une carte hors-texte qui MANQUE à notre exemplaire. ENVOI AUTOGRAPHE SIGNÉ de l'auteur en tête du faux-titre, qui a malheureusement été rogné par le relieur et empêche de lire le nom du dédicataire : « à M. [???] / De la part de l'auteur / Gage d'estime, d'amitié et de reconnaissance / [signature] ». Le médecin Joseph Anglada (1775-1833) avait été chargé par le conseil général du département des Pyrénées-Orientales de faire connaître toutes les ressources chimiques et médicales que peuvent fournir les eaux minérales répandues avec tant de profusion sur ce territoire. Ses recherches lui fournirent les matériaux de cet ouvrage placé au rang des plus remarquables dans le genre. Les mémoires, au nombre de huit, sont relatifs a la chaleur des eaux minérales, à ses causes probables, et surtout à ses principales attributions ; à l?examen de la glairine, matière rapprochée des substances animales, qui accompagne constamment les eaux sulfureuses ; à la présence et à la manière d?être du principe alcalin dans ces eaux ; au dégagement spontané du gaz azote qui s'exhale des eaux sulfureuses, et à la théorie de ce phénomène, comme se rattachant à l?action exercée par les principes sulfureux sur l?air retenu dans les eaux ; à la constitution des ingrédients qui composent ces dernières ; à une nouvelle classification des eaux minérales ; enfin à l?art de fabriquer artificiellement les eaux minérales des Pyrénées.
