El marco teórico y metodológico es el de la teoría cognitiva de la metáfora (Lakoff-Johnson 1980). El estudio se centra en dos obras que recogen los fundamentos teóricos del funcionalismo alemán: Grundlegung einer allgemeinen Translationstheorie (Reiß-Vermeer 1984) y Translatorisches Handeln. Theorie und Methode (Holz-Mänttäri 1984). El análisis sistemático de las expresiones metafóricas detectadas en estas obras ha llevado a identificar dos metáforas conceptuales y a mostrar algunas de las contradicciones que implica su uso. Partiendo del marco teórico del cognitivismo de segunda generación es posible desarrollar un modelo traductológico en el que no se plantean tales contradicciones y desarrollar de forma coherente el funcionalismo de Vermeer y Holz-Mänttäri.…
