Anthony Akerman

Anthony Akerman is a playwright and screenwriter. He was born in South Africa in 1949. After studying at Rhodes University he trained at the Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol. In 1975 he moved to Amsterdam, where he lived in exile until 1992. His award-winning stage plays include Somewhere on the Border, A Man out of the Country, Dark Outsider, Old Boys and Leading Ladies. He has regularly written for radio and television – and is a regular contributor to the online South African newspaper Daily Maverick.
