Externally, generally smart with light to moderate bumping and rubbing, leading to slight fraying and loss of cloth at spine heads and tails, especially to The Pot-Luck Cookery Book. Light marking to boards, again more noticable to The Pot-Luck Cookery Book. Internally, relatively weak, with fragile hinges, most significantly to Nelson's Home Comforts, where the endpapers have been reinforced with tape, and to The Pot-Luck Cookery Book, where the front cover is very delicate and almost loose. Light sporadic spotting throughout, heavier to the first and last few pages of each volume, and a more sizeable mark to the last few pages of The Pot-Luck Cookery Book, extending through the second half of the book.
