Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - This book is the Ultimate Beginner's Explanation of Epigenetics in Plain English. Inside this book, readers will learn how to: - Understand the fascinating twin paradox and discover why individuals with identical DNA experience different health outcomes.- Decode the complex science of epigenetics in plain English, mastering how environmental factors turn genetic switches on or off.- Explore the realities of intergenerational trauma to see how the biological costs of survival are passed down-and how patterns can be altered.- Differentiate between genetic code and gene expression to realize your DNA is a static library, while epigenetic markers act as bookmarks.- Evaluate modern epigenetic research to successfully distinguish between actionable, evidence-based science and wellness industry hype.- Grasp the biological impact of your environment and recognize exactly how daily exposures and physiological stress rewrite your cellular story.- Reclaim powerful agency over your health trajectory by understanding that while you cannot change your inherited genes, you influence how they behave.>The groundbreaking field of epigenetics has shattered the myth of genetic determinism. This accessible, plain-English guide strips away academic jargon to explain how gene expression actually works. By following the illustrative journey of researchers at the Kessler Institute, you will uncover the human side of cellular biology. You will learn that the survival experiences of your ancestors might leave chemical marks on your genome, much like severe weather altering the landscape's soil, but that soil can absolutely still grow new things. Your biology is not a fixed curse waiting to unfold; it is a highly responsive, dynamic system that is constantly adapting to the world around you.Whether you are someone exploring your family's health history, a student of the sciences, or a curious mind wanting to understand the modern frontiers of biology, this book provides life-changing clarity. It does not offer magical behavioral cures for the inherent randomness of life. Instead, it offers something vastly more powerful: an accurate, scientifically sound, and profoundly hopeful picture of how human biology operates. You will stop viewing yourself as a helpless passenger of your genetic inheritance and start seeing yourself as an active participant in your ongoing biological story. The genetic library is wide open, and the reading of your cellular DNA happens every single day. Do not settle for the outdated belief that your health and future are entirely predetermined by the code you were born with. Arm yourself with the vital scientific knowledge necessary to understand exactly how your cells are actively responding to your life right now. Scroll up and secure your copy today to discover the science of epigenetics and redefine what is biologically possible for your future.

Buch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Recent studies have indicated that epigenetic processes may play a major role in both cellular and organismal aging. These epigenetic processes include not only DNA methylation and histone modifications, but also extend to many other epigenetic mediators such as the polycomb group proteins, chromosomal position effects, and noncoding RNA. The topics of this book range from fundamental changes in DNA methylation in aging to the most recent research on intervention into epigenetic modifications to modulate the aging process. The major topics of epigenetics and aging covered in this book are: 1) DNA methylation and histone modifications in aging; 2) Other epigenetic processes and aging; 3) Impact of epigenetics on aging; 4) Epigenetics of age-related diseases; 5) Epigenetic interventions and aging: and 6) Future directions in epigenetic aging research. The most studied of epigenetic processes, DNA methylation, has been associated with cellular aging and aging of organisms for many years. It is now apparent that both global and gene-specific alterations occur not only in DNA methylation during aging, but also in several histone alterations. Many epigenetic alterations can have an impact on aging processes such as stem cell aging, control of telomerase, modifications of telomeres, and epigenetic drift can impact the aging process as evident in the recent studies of aging monozygotic twins.Numerous age-related diseases are affected by epigenetic mechanisms. For example, recent studies have shown that DNA methylation is altered in Alzheimer's disease and autoimmunity. Other prevalent diseases that have been associated with age-related epigenetic changes include cancer and diabetes. Paternal age and epigenetic changes appear to have an effect on schizophrenia and epigenetic silencing has been associated with several of the progeroid syndromes of premature aging. Moreover, the impact of dietary or drug intervention into epigenetic processes as they affectnormal aging or age-related diseases is becoming increasingly feasible.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book focuses on the close relationship between aging and neurodegeneration. By highlighting the reversible nature of epigenetic changes, it provides a comprehensive overview of how these modifications can regulate gene expression without altering the DNA sequence, offering promising solutions for clinical intervention.Aging induces a gradual decline in cerebral function, leading to cognitive impairment, memory loss, motor dysfunction, and eventually functional decline and death. It is accompanied by the decline of organismal functions induced by whole genome alterations leading to neurodegeneration. Epigenetic modifications, including chromatin modifications, DNA methylation, and changes in regulatory RNAs, have a major impact on neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease. The chapters in this book address critical issues such as the contribution of epigenetic mechanisms to aging, the interaction between genetic and environmental factors in neurodegeneration, and the potential for epigenetic therapies to delay aging and mitigate disease progression. This volume, part of the RNA Technologies book series, is an invaluable resource for researchers and advanced students in genetics and neuroscience. It provides a deep understanding of the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases and offers innovative strategies to address the challenges of aging and neurodegeneration.
