Brown begins with the basic elements: the branches, leaves, and trunk, then covers various species. He notes, 'There are, of course, many kinds of trees, each having a distinct character of its own and much pleasure can be gained by learning to recognize them. You will also get to understand them better, which will be a great help to you when you start your drawing.' This is a reprint of this 1943 title.
