Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Fair. Fourteenth Edition - comprising Mathematics, Engineering Science, Heat Engines, Naval Architecture and Electrotechnology - published by James Munro & Co; Marine Engineering and Nautical Publishers. The Preface is concise: ANY Technical Work that runs into 14 editions needs no preface. Filled with calculations and b/w diagrams, graphs etc. Assessed as in a fair condition for two reasons - the slightly faded bottle green cloth of the boards and the apparent removal of one of the endpapers at the front of the book. In addition, the pages are mild to moderately tanned with occasional spotting/blemishing; often more apparent on the preliminary and final ones. The Naval Architecture chapter consists of a list of 27 points - all of which have a small pencil tick by them. pp. 608/12mo. Undated. Please note that, depending on destination, we may request a payment to cover any extra shipping/postage charges. Proceeds to Amnesty International. Abe2432.

Book Condition, Fine: An unread copy that remains in close to perfect condition. Marks across the dust jacket, slight bumps to its corners and edges, but otherwise pristine, no major tears or blemishes, cover artwork bright and vibrant. Dj now protected by a plastic slipcover. Original blue cloth binding with gilt lettering along the spine is in mint condition. Some marks across the text block, but mostly clean with crisp edges. Pages throughout are tightly bound, clean and tidy. All illustrations and photographs throughout are blemish free, popping with colour. A first edition hardback with original dust jacket, collectible as an early illustrated nature and travel study of the Isle of Jura. First printings with intact jackets are notably scarcer than jacketless copies, making this attractive to collectors of regional natural history and Scottish island literature. This richly observed work combines travel narrative with natural history, capturing the rugged landscapes, wildlife, and cultural character of Jura. Youngson's descriptive prose brings the island's deer, coastlines, and human stories to life, offering readers both evocative scenes and thoughtful reflections on place. Enhanced by illustrations that complement the text, the book provides a compelling portrait of one of Scotland's most distinctive and remote islands.
