Condition: Fair. 1915. First Edition. 364 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Publisher's catalogue to rear. Pages are lightly tanned with some foxing throughout. More pronounced to text block edges, and towards the start and end of the book. Mild cracking to front hinge, slightly exposing netting towards the top edge. Binding remains firm. Deckled bottom edge of text block with minor creasing. Minor dog-eared corners. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Visible crushing to spine ends. Some tanning to spine and edges. Minor fraying to spine ends and corners. Small dents to rear board. Visible markings with faint water staining and some white scratches overall. Distinct brown marks to rear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Edward Hilton Young (1879-1960), MP for Norwich 1915-23, served with the RNVR in the war; in 1935 he was created Baron Kennet.
