Gleichfalls Mitglied der Akademien von Berlin, Göttingen, München und Madrid, machte sich Wolf um die Vermittlung romanischer Literaturen einen Namen und gab u. a. mit Konrad Hofmann zusammen eine Sammlung der ältesten spanischen Romanzen, die "Primavera y flor de romances", heraus außerdem lieferte er zahlreiche vortreffliche Abhandlungen für die "Wiener Jahrbücher der Literatur".
