Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of astronomy in 1887, a time of significant advancements in the field. The author meticulously compiled a bibliography of astronomy publications for the year, offering a comprehensive snapshot of the discoveries, research, and debates that defined this era. The book delves into various astronomical topics, including the study of comets, asteroids, double stars, and the ever-mysterious aurora borealis. The bibliography serves as a valuable resource for those interested in the historical context of astronomical research, shedding light on the methods and theories that were employed by scientists during this period. It highlights the emergence of new instruments, such as chronographs and break-circuit chronometers, which were instrumental in advancing the field. The book also reflects the growing interest in the use of photography in astronomy, exemplified by the authorââ â¢s inclusion of titles related to the application of this new technology to the study of celestial bodies. The bibliography offers a glimpse into the theoretical and practical concerns that dominated astronomical thought in the late 19th century. It reveals the scientific community's fascination with understanding the mechanics of the universe, the search for patterns in celestial events, and the ongoing quest to unravel the mysteries of the cosmos. This book is a testament to the continuous evolution of astronomy and its enduring power to inspire wonder and curiosity.
