Nice hardcover in illustrated paper covered boards showing a dog and cat looking at a rolled up hedgehog on the cover, solid green paper covered rear cover. Tips bumped and rubbed w/color loss but not splayed or frayed. Backstrip of book is firmly attached and shows black titl…e/author/publisher and a color illustration of an older woman in a long skirt with a flock of geese behind her holding a cat by the scruff of the neck next to a stream as if she's just rescued it. Prize note written on fep from a teacher to a student for their Nature study dated 1935. Book is illustrated with three full page b/w plates and many vignettes scattered throughout the *very* heavy gauge text. One of the plates has been colored by a child, and the spine is cracked at this page, but no loose leaves, no tears or major soil seen save for one finger smudge in one margin (text unaffected). A book that is part of 'The Happy Hours' series. It is a group of tales about these two animal friends and their escapades.
