Das Manuskript beschreibt in sechs Kapiteln 1) den Rückzug der k. k. österr. Armee von Magenta bis an die Chiese, 2) die Ereignisse vom 15. bis 22. Juni - weiterer Rückzug bis hinter den Mincio, 3) den Übergang der österr. Armee auf das rechte Ufer des Mincio am 23. Juni und 4) die Schlacht von Solferino am 24.
