Book is on the life of Joel Chandler Harris from obscurity in boyhood to fame in early manhood with short stories and other early literary work not heretofore published in book form. Inscription on the front endpaper To Billy from Miss Jennie May 24, 1933 Bluefield, W.VA. Front and back hinges are both cracked, but the book is still tight. Deep red boards with gilt lettering on front and on the spine, have minor shelf wear. Minor stains and faded spots on the boards. Frontispiece photograph of Joel Chandler Harris with his autograph below. (at least a copy of his signature) and tissue. Browning/foxing on the page edges.
