Hence, creativity and innovation are vital for long term business success. Innovate or die, as Gary Hamel (2000) says. The case study 'How Disney Keeps Ideas Coming' describes how Disney - one of the most successful American movie companies - achieves a high amount of creativity and innovation. The following case report discusses Disney's approaches for achieving creativity and innovation. During the following case study report, I will first start with definitions of innovation and creativity. After that, I will compare Disney's approaches with the identified approaches in the literature concerning creativity and innovation in organisations. At the end of the report, I will give a conclusion and summarise the main findings. I will not include a separate chapter about how I would encourage creativity in my organisation. This would depend mainly on the employees, the industry, the organisation, the company size and the business model of my organisation. Nevertheless, I will analyse and assess suitable methods for encouraging creativity and innovation in the text.

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2005 in the subject Computer Science - Commercial Information Technology, grade: A (1,3), University of Auckland (Facultiy of Computing), course: Network and Protocols, language: English, abstract: Voice over IP (VoIP) is at the moment one of the most discussed topics in the current network scene. Besides the theoretical interest in network development, there is always the practical relevance which is of high importance for advances in network technology. One major proof, that VoIP research and its technology has a high impact on businesses is the fact that VoIP it is already implemented in a number of companies in the United States of America, UK, Ireland and South Korea, according to Cherry (2005). The following graphic shows the importance of VoIP for companies according to a recent international study conducted by Network Computing.
Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: A (1,3), University of Auckland (Facultiy of Computing), language: English, abstract: In these days, leadership seems to be a critically researched topic. Morse (2004) discusses executive psychopaths and Maccoby (2004) analyses problems with narcissistic leaders. According to them, there is a high quota of unsuccessful leaders (Morse, 2004 & Maccoby, 2004) and therefore it is getting more and more important to identify and validate key leadership traits before employing leaders to avoid costly top level management debacles. Especially an unsuccessful CIO can be very expensive for a company due to high business risks which result from the use of information technology (think about the huge risks companies are facing when they are implementing an ERP solution in a multimillion dollar project). With increasing pressure, the CIO (who is in my interpretation in the graphic on page two the tiny manager in front of the desk who is trying to look up to the CEO) is in a difficult position. Being supervised by the CEO (displayed in the picture on page too as the manager behind the desk whose view seems to be clouded), he has to manage culturally diverse teams in the complex and changing business and IT environment. His function is to coordinate IT as a tool to support business functions and value adding processes, in the context of Porter's value chain. (Porter, 1998) This leads to the need for the CIO to understand and integrate two aspects: the business side and the IT related aspects. The problem is that in most cases, even the CIO is not able to understand every detailed aspect of information technology and of the conducted business. Therefore he has to manage with a lack of information and lead a team consisting of different and often culturally diverse specialists. This essay analyses and describes traits of an effective CIO with the use of current leadership literature, in particular with references to the work from Warren Bennis, Abraham Zaleznik and Daniel Goleman. Identified traits and significant findings are highlighted (bold) to give to focus the reader on the most important aspects.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Banking, Stock Exchanges, Insurance, Accounting, grade: 1,3, European Business School - International University Schloß Reichartshausen Oestrich-Winkel (Supply Management Institute, Lehrstuhl fuer Supply Management und Logistik), language: English, abstract: Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is one of the current major developments in the European economy. For many companies, it is a possibility for establishing a new pres-ence in a different industry or branch. One example for this trend is the fact that Kienbaum Management Service GmbH offers BPO services in the field of document logistics. Besides establishing a new presence in new markets, BPO also leads to significant cost reductions and quality of service improvements. Therefore it is an important strategic tool for the European financial sector which has experienced increasing costs and shrinking margins during the last ten years. This seminar paper focuses principally on BPO in the European financial sector. Therefore, other industries are only relevant in comparisons with the European financial sector. To highlight the current European de-velopment from diversified banks to specialized financial institutions, transaction bank-ing is explained as one of the specialized banking forms with the highest growth rate during the next years. An emphasis is also set in this paper on document logistics in the European financial sector and BPO possibilities in this field. The field of document lo-gistics in the financial sector is not heavily researched. Therefore academic publications in this field are of high interest for the academic community as well as for professionals managing document logistics. After a foreword in chapter one, chapters two and three focus on the introduction to the European financial sector and BPO and include basic definitions. After that, chapter four includes the main part of this seminar paper and puts an emphasis on BPO in the European financial sector. After describing a generic value chain and stating BPO trends, an introduction is given to the field of document logistics and BPO possibilities in this field. Chapter five then gives a conclusion and highlights the future development of BPO in the European financial sector. Finally, an appendix includes the figures which are not integrated in the text and is followed by the references section.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Master's Thesis from the year 2005 in the subject Computer Science - Commercial Information Technology, grade: 1,7, University of Auckland (Faculty of Computing), course: Master of Computing, 83 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: Supply chain management (SCM) offers business benefits but is a difficult concept to master without the right software support. This dissertation is aimed at academic and IT professionals and SCM decision makers or consultants as it provides insights into SCM software and the leading concepts behind it. A qualitative approach was chosen for answering the research questions which focus on general SCM software principles but also enquire benefits, functionalities and the software architecture of SAP's SCM 4.1 solution. In addition to that, the differences between what decision makers request and what mySAP SCM 4.1 offers are addressed with the research questions. To answer these research questions, the structure of the dissertation contains a general introduction to SCM software and includes a SCM software market overview. After this part, one major part of the dissertation contains an analysis of the dominant SCM software solution mySAP SCM (Release 4.1). The examination of mySAP SCM 4.1 focuses first on technological aspects (software architecture, technological platform and programming language) before the business benefits and functionalities of this SCM software are examined. After that, the functionalities, business benefits and the architecture of mySAP SCM 4.1 are compared with the SCM software requirements obtained from ten SCM professionals from different industries (automotive, logistics, retail, consumer packaged goods, consulting and education). The analysis of the requirements from SCM decision makers (gathered using a questionnaire) shows that an increase in SCM transparency and a reduction of SCM costs were the main requirements articulated by decision makers. The comparison of the questionnaire with the functionalities, business benefits and the architecture of mySAP SCM 4.1 then illustrates that these requirements can be realised with SAP's SCM 4.1. Concerning future research in the field of SCM software, it was found out that SCM software will be influenced by the following developments: increasing globalisation together with the internationalisation of SCM, the trend of services oriented architecture and the integration of corporate information systems. Keywords:Supply Chain Management (SCM), Supply Chain Management Software, mySAP SCM 4.1, Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) Model, Enterprise Services Architecture (ESA), Netweaver.
