This also must partly account for the disproportionate fulness with which sometimes comparatively unimportant places are described.' (p. [ix] f.) -- In 1839 `.while still an undergraduate founded with J. M. Neale the Cambridge Camden Society for the revival of ecclesiology. In this and other ways he did much to promote the revival of ritual that followed the Oxford Movement, though Webb himself was a strictly moderate ceremonialist and never wore the Eucharistic vestments. From 1862 till his death he held the living of St Andrew's, Wells Street, London, which became famed for its music and parochial organizations.'
