The Ecclesiologist published its first issue in November 1841, and discontinued in 1868. The New series began with the January 1845 issue and ended with the December 1868 issue. In this and other ways he did much to promote the revival of ritual that followed the Oxford Movement, though Webb himself was a strictly moderate ceremonialist and never wore the Eucharistic vestments. From 1862 till his death he held the living of St Andrew's, Wells Street, London, which became famed for its music and parochial organizations.'
