Sehr seltene Monographie über die Osterinsel. 1964 das einzige Mal seit 1950 auf einer deutschen Auk…tion. Die chilenische Expedition fand 1911 statt und die Ergebnisse wurden in Chile in deutscher Sprache veröffentlicht. ?Dem aus Berlin stammenden Meteorologen und Biophysiker Walter Knoche wurde von der chilenischen Regierung 1911 die wissenschaftliche Leitung der ersten chilenischen Osterinsel-Expedition übertragen. Mit dem Schiff "General Baquedano" gelangte eine mehrköpfige wissenschaftliche Kommission auf die abgelegene polynesische Insel, die seit 1888 unter chilenischer Kolonialverwaltung gestanden, jedoch bis zu der Expedition keine nähere Beachtung gefunden hatte. Der heute weitgehend unbekannte Wissenschaftler verfasste 1925 das Buch "Die Osterinsel".
