Brauchbare Daten des Niederschlags in angemessener zeitlicher und räumlicher Auflà sung sind daher von zwingender Notwendigkeit. Hier wird nun von einem Autor, der viele Niederschlagsstationen Westafrikas sowie ihre Bearbeitungen und Korrekturen aus eigener Anschauung kennt, eine Analyse täglicher Niederschlagsdaten vorgenommen. Dies ist ein Risiko. Denn leider sind Niederschlagsmessungen in Gebieten lokal begrenzter Regenereignisse, besonders solche aus den Zeiten vor etwa 1950, fehleranfällig und oft fehlerhaft.
