Condition: VG. 10pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 14 drawings and photographs, including several portraits, and a cameo portrait of the author, salvaged from a damaged issue of The Cosmopolitan, Volume XII, No. 3, January, 1892. Illustrations include a section of the Heroult furnace, Heroult alloy furnaces at Troyes, France, adding sodium to melted cryolite, one of the Oerlikon dynamos used in the Heroult process, Castner's process - the chloride department, Hall's re-melting furnaces, a Castner sodium furnace, a Heroult furnace, Cowles electric smelting furnaces at Stoke-On-Trent, England, the armature of the Oerlikon dynamos, Hall's reducing pots, a section of the Cowles furnace, and portraits of Frederick Wohler, and Henri-Etienne Sainte-Claire Deville. Housed in protective mylar report cover.
