The author also examines how Columbus became a strategic military location during the Civil War, and later a hub for education with the establishment of the Franklin Academy and the Industrial Institute and College, which later became Mississippi University for Women. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
