Ulbricht geschriebene Buch ist ein wirklich klinisch orientiertes Echokardiographie-Buch mit vielen praktischen Beispielen. Es ist - in dieser Preisklasse einfach unschlagbar - als Zusatz-Schmankerl mit einer Echo-CD mit über 100 Videosequenzen aller gängigen Krankheitsbilder versehen, die man in einer Kardiologie oder Inneren Abteilung so sieht. Die CD ist meiner Meinung nach sehr gefällig gestaltet - die Menüführung ist einfach zu bedienen. Gut finde ich, dass zu jedem Video eine Befundbeschreibung besteht, die ausgedruckt werden und die man so bei ähnlichen Fällen sich selbst zunutze machen kann. Das echokardiographische differentialdiagnostische Vorgehen wird ausgehend von fünf in der Praxis oder im Krankenhaus sehr wichtigen - Krankheitsbildern, nämlich Dyspnoe ("Luftnot"), Thoraxschmerz ("Schmerzen in der Brust"), Synkope ("unklarer Bewusstseinsverlust"), Fieber und Schock beschrieben. Der Ansatz "vom Symptom zur (echokardiographischen) Diagnose" ist klasse gemacht, da er den Bedürfnissen vieler Ärzte und Ärztinnen entgegenkommt. Außerdem gehen die Autoren neben Diagnosekriterien auf aktuelle therapeutische Aspekte z.B. zum Herzklappenersatz oder zur Behandlung der Herzinsuffizienz (Herzmuskelschwäche) ein. Das Buch hilft sehr bei der klinischen Tätigkeit und kann wärmstens empfohlen werden. Das Buch ist logischerweise auch im Praxistest von einem führenden Medizinverlag (Rothacker) mit "sehr gut" beurteilt worden.
