Buch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - In valleys that sleep beneath the mountains, in voices that fade but never fall silent, in memories that blur like fog over the sea-something still lingers. Told in brief, haunting stories, Fragments: What Remains wanders through coal towns, forgotten roads, and refugee camps to uncover what the heart remembers after the mind forgets. A village dog brings comfort to every hand that reaches down. A ghost visits a church that prays with the living and the dead.A girl barters her family's love for the shimmer of a distant light. The collection explores the fragments of memory-moments buried in the silt of time and unearthed decades later, stitched together from the author's childhood in communist Romania and his flight to the West. Blending fact and fiction, these fragments move between lived history and dreamt events, tracing what the imagination preserves, what it distorts, and what it invents to fill the gaps. Every page is a portrait of survival-not grand or heroic, but tender and ordinary. Told in prose as spare as it is lyrical, the collection invites the reader to step inside lives quietly waiting to be found. For anyone who has ever searched the past for meaning, these stories offer a window into what remains.…

Condition: Wie Neu. Zustandsbeschreibung: leicht berieben. Philosophisch-theologische Erkundungen. 171 Seiten, gebunden (Religion and Transformation in Contemporary European Society; Band 12/V&R unipress/Vienna University Press 2017). Treatment script for an unproduced television project, variously described as a television series or prospective feature film. Text in German. Based on Nobel Prize-winning author Hermann Hesse's 1934 novel, set to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Centuries into the future, a closed utopian society is dedicated solely to intellectual pursuits, encapsulated in the "glass bead game," an esoteric competition which requires a limitless knowledge of music, math, and culture to win. Hesse's novel follows Joseph Knecht as he becomes a master of the game, eventually rising to the top of the hierarchy to become Magister Ludi, the executive officer of the game administrators. Although "Das Glasperienspiel" was begun in 1931, publication in Germany was stalled due to the novel's anti-fascist messages, leading Hesse to eventually seek publication in Switzerland in 1943. Set in Castalia, a fictional province of central Europe, in the 25th century. Clear untitled plastic wrappers. Title page present, dated 1983, noted as Treatment, with credits for screenwriter TITUS LEBER, novelist Hermann Hesse, and music credits to Johann Sebastian Bach. 21 leaves, with last page of text numbered 20. Xerographic duplication, rectos only. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Very Good plus, with white clip binding.…

Treatment script for an unproduced film. Text in German. Based on Herman Hesse's last full-length novel "Das Glasperlenspiel" or "The Glass Bead Game," published in 1943. Years into the future, a class of intellectuals is concerned only with running boys' boarding schools and playing the Glass Bead Game, which involves a sophisticated synthesis of arts, science and culture in order to excel. Hesse's novel was published in Switzerland because German government officials considered it a critique of the Nazi regime. Title page present, noted as Treatment, with credits for author Herman Hesse, and screenwriter Dr. Titus Leber. 26 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 25. Xerographic duplication. Pages Near Fine, housed in a Near Fine orange prong binder with clear front wrapper. Text in German.…

Saerkilae Thorellqvist, once a best-selling author from Bjoerkviken, Sweden, now lives on Longboat Key, Florida, with Snoopy-his service dog and loyal companion. Restless, he applies for a writing job at The Bark Foundation for Global Harmony. But his emails take the scenic route and reach a junior cashier at a UPS Store. He speaks often with his sister Liv across the ocean, though their memories no longer march in step. She forgets names but remembers ABBA lyrics and goat accents. The cashier writes back. His sister calls. Through their voices, two lanterns glow on opposite shores, keeping him tethered when the waters pull. Lanterns Between Us is part comedy, part heartache, part hope-a reminder that when memory drifts, love keeps the light afloat. This item is printed on demand.
