El contexto literario del poeta chileno Jorge Teillier (1935-1996) se manifestaba primordialmente alrededor de los grandes poetas chilenos que inauguraron la moderna poesía chilena: Pablo Neruda, Vicente Huidobro, Pablo de Rokha y Gabriela Mistral. Consciente y orgulloso continuador de la tradición poética chilena, Teillier consideraba que " uno debe estar muy orgulloso de sus antepasados " ( " Yo aprendí a leer escuchando a Neruda " ), aunque nunca aceptara doctrina alguna de los padres tutelares de la poesía de su país. Desde su primer libro, " Para ángeles y gorriones " , Teillier presenta su visión poética y el universo que lo acompaña. La obra de Teillier es su propia cosmovisión, lo que se entiende en su ser poeta/hablante lírico: una poesía arraigada, guardiana del mito, que se relaciona de otra manera con su entorno natural y las cosas.
