Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1874, 12mo, 217pp. Moderate wear, particularly at the edges and corners, first free endpaper lacking, else G. Edited and compiled by his brother, H. A. Taylor, who apparently was instrumental in helping Lute in his various newspaper businesses, and who was quite an entrepreneur in hs own right. Lute A. Taylor was born in Norfolk, New York in 1835. In 1856 he moved to River Falls, Wisconsin, and the following year he began his first newspaper, The River Falls Journal. He subsequently published the Prescott Journal and the La Crosse Morning Leader. In addition, he held positions in the newly formed Internal Revenue department, was appointed an Assessor of the Sixth Congressional District of Wisconsin, and was surveyor of the port of La Crosse. He died in 1873. Lute Taylor's writing is sometimes more philosophic than journalistic and is generally enjoyable to read. One of the articles details his life-long problem with stuttering, or stammering as he called it.
