Jen konec povidky, sebevrazda chlapcova, neodpovida skutecnosti: Sevcenko tu kombinuje svuj osud s osudem jednoho ze svych pratel. V "Umelci" setkavame se s desitkami jmen umelcu ruznych epoch a narodu, jez nam prozrazuji nejen uctyhodnou pili, s jakou si Sevcenko za pomerne kratkou dobu vsechny tyto vedomosti osvojil, nybrz i vysokou uroven jeho poznatku.".
