After the attack on Pearl Harbor he volunteered for service with the U.S. Navy, was commissioned, and served until he was released in 1946. He was director of public information for the Social Security Administration for nearly two decades. After he retired from Federal service, he devoted himself to writing about the Southwest in the nineteenth century. Good in good dust jacket. Highlighting/underlining. A few instances of red underlining noted. DJ has some wear and soiling. First edition. First Edition [stated]. Presumed first printing.
