Paperback. Condition: Very Good. For the last 25 years, Robert Steinke has run his own saddlery business, having served his apprenticeship with the Queen's saddler and obtaining his City and Guilds 1 and II at the Cordwainers College in London. He has also been actively involved for many years in producing and showing ponies and cobs. The experience gained in both the stable and the workshop has enabled him to write this practical hands-on approach to the care and repair of rugs. In his first book, "Repair You Own Saddlery and Harness", the author covered the complete range of repairs that both a saddler and a horse owner could, with study, practice and a little aptitude, attempt to achieve. In this book, the care of rugs has been spotlighted, and all the repairs are well within the capabilities of the average horse owner. This book also concentrates on the comfort of the horse, emphasizing the need for safe and workmanlike repairs. For those of you with any ambitions to progress to more complicated repairs on saddlery, this book is the ideal launching pad to get you used to the feel of needles, awl and thread. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. When Robert Steinke started in the saddlery trade in the mid 1960s, driving harness was seldom called for. However, since the upsurge of interest in carriage driving, he has specialised in its design and manufacture. This has been complemented by him breaking his old hunting cob, Duke, to harness and driving him at various country shows and rallies. The knowledge gained from both the bench and the box seat is contained within this book to help an owner driver to maintain a set of driving harness in optimum condition. All the repairs covered can be carried out with a basic selection of tools and materials and are presented in a hands-on, photographic step-by-step style. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Condition: New. Steinke, Bettina (illustrator). The stage was set for trouble in spring 1878 when new agent Nathan C. Meeker arrived at the White River Indian Agency on the Ute Reservation. The Utes had seen agents come and go without bringing any great change, but Meeker intended to convert them to Christianity and a farming lifestyle. His efforts to alter their society drove the White River Utes to war. In The Last War Trail, Robert Emmitt details the conflict that followed, the Meeker Massacre and the Ute War of 1879. From White River Ute chief Saponise Cuch, a young warrior at the time, Emmitt heard the story of the Utes' antagonism to Meeker's plan to teach them to farm, their version of the battle at Milk River, and their attitude toward removal. Emmitt spoke with other Utes, some of them descendants of war participants, and with whites who had lived near the reservation. He also consulted congressional documents and official testimonies to craft this well-rounded account.

Softcover. Condition: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 23 x 30 cm., 186 pages with 158 color illustrations. - A superb draughtsman, painter and sculptor, bricoleur of invented religions and cultures, collector of thrift-store paintings and aficionado of middle-brow psychedelic and surrealist art: Jim Shaw (born 1952) is one of America s most important and prolific contemporary artists. Following his years in the protopunk band Destroy All Monsters (which he cofounded, with Mike Kelley among others), Shaw came to prominence in the Los Angeles art world of the late 1970s, as part of a generation graduating from Cal Arts, among them Mike Kelley, John Miller and Tony Oursler. Shaw has produced many handsome project-based books over the course of his ever-evolving career, but The Rinse Cycle is, incredibly, his first ever full-scale survey. It brings together more than 100 paintings, sculptures, drawings and videos from the last 25 years, a superb introduction to a quintessential American artist.
