After examining the general characteristics of urban farming, I am going to scrutinize the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of urban agricultural projects taking place in the city of Detroit. The former Motor City has been experiencing a dramatic economic collapse. Hence, because of its urgent need for change, it serves as prime example for urban farming in industrialized countries. Further on, introducing the Earthworks project in detail, the potential of urban farming as a possible long-term solution for Detroit's problems will be examined.

An alternate take, language: English, abstract:…Day by day we are woken up by the alarm. The clock schedules our daily routine. Punctuality at work is emphasized. Deadlines are considered to be accomplished on time. The clock drives us to undertake a certain amount of tasks during the day. In Western societies time is considered as resource, which can be spent, saved or lost. Thus, it represents a force, which drives our lives. Timetables and calendars create the feeling of time pressure. This phenomenon implies a big gap between the time an individual lives and the one the same person feels inside like a body clock. Hence, especially in task-oriented management, issues concerning time occur. Furthermore, cultural differences cause a variation of time perceptions. In fact, social time, as a culturally determined interpretation of time, has a great impact on business culture. On the one hand, the sense of social time influences expatriate managers going overseas, who have to adapt the local time perception; on the other hand, it concerns leaders, who have to juggle with two time perceptions in order to organize cross-border collaborations. Punctuality serves as prime example for time perception. While in Western Europe timekeeping represents a virtue, in Southern Europe dates are treated rather flexible.The time perception of cultural groups varies even more. Monochronicity and polychronicity embody the main perspectives of time. Therefore, their origin and impact will be explained in general as well as in terms of managerial behaviour. After classifying the cultural clusters established by the GLOBE study, the example of the Confucian Asia will be contrasted with Western Europe. Further on, the case study of China serves as prime example of Confucian Asia to underline the influence of the local time perception on the present leadership style. Finally, a behavioural guideline for leaders concerning time perception shall create a harmonious overall picture of this work. Since this paper does not have the extent to scrutinize the influence of all cultural dimensions on leadership style, I chose the issue of time perception, because so far this aspect has been rather neglected in research. The following investigations are supposed to give a guideline to time awareness in general. By analysing the case of China, difficulties and potentials of varying time perceptions regarding managerial success shall be examined.

It was not until the year of 2005 that the first national integration law was enacted. Even though Germany has been an immigration country since the 1950s, the necessity of aspecific law framework has been neglected blindly for decades. Already in 2006 about 23% of the children born in Germany had at least one foreign parent (cf. Foroutan & Schäfer, 2009, p.12). The media still talk about 'the migrant'. But it finally has to reach people's minds that there is no clear distinction between 'the German' and 'the foreigner'. In fact, the matter of identity has to be reconsidered. About 18.6% of Germany's overall population possess a migration background (cf. Wippermann & Flaig, 2009, p.3), which signifies, that these individuals face the challenge of cultural contradictory on a daily basis. The permanent negotiation of belonging characterizes the dichotomy between retention of the ethnic and adoption of the German culture. Hence, this phenomenon creates a specific kind of identity, the so called 'third space', which in the present work I will refer to as hybrid identity. Theterms transnational and hyphenated identity are used synonymously in the relevant literature, but I will apply only to the former name to avoid any confusion. Moreover, this new kind of identity requires rethinking the concept of nationality and raises citizenship issues.The present work shall examine the phenomena of hybrid identity formation in detail: Under which criteria does it emerge and how is the synthesis of two cultural backgrounds depicted in everyday life After introducing general findings on this topic, I will apply these aspects to the Turkish population in Germany by evaluating several surveys. Even though ethnic Turks do not appear to be the biggest ethnic group in Germany anymore, they represent cultural features including their religion, which makes the observation of their case study more controversial. Data on the German citizenship law will top off the chain of arguments concerning the necessity of nationality for the belonging of hybrid identities.

Geographical Indication (GI) is also one of those alternative food designations. There are various terms meeting the meaning of GI. The Spanish wine Rioja is designated with the label Denominación the Origen Controlada (DOC); the Italian cheese Parmigiono Reggiano is marked with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and the Mexican spirit Tequila is considered as an Appellation of Origen (AO). In this paper I am going to use Geographical Indication as generic term, since the others refer to particular protection systems of different countries. Defining the features of GIs in general, I am going to examine their functions and benefits. Comparing the use of Geographical Indications in Mexico and Germany I want to analyse, if GI products meet the needs of consumers in today's globalized market. Drawing the final conclusion I am going to discuss possible ideas of improvement of the present GI protection systems.

Daher verwundert es nicht, dass sie eine einmalige Rolle als Wissensträger in der Kultivierung der Pyrenäenhalbinsel und insbesondere im Königreich Kastilien-Leon unter Alfons X, der sich dank seiner Tätigkeit als Mäzen der Wissenschaften das Attribut der Weise verdiente, einnahmen. Mit der vorliegenden Arbeit möchte ich das Wirken der Juden unter Alfons X und die Motivation für dessen Förderung näher beleuchten. Dennoch wird mittels der Massenmedien der Eindruck von Unmittelbarkeit und Aktualität erweckt. Der Medienkonsument kann sich die Kriegsschauplätze bei Bedarf im Fernsehen betrachten. Die Präsentation der Bilder in den Nachrichten zeichnet sich zumeist durch Einfachheit und Eindringlichkeit aus. Dem Rezipienten wird ein gewisser Informationsgehalt suggeriert. Doch in welchem Grade darf er sich tatsächlich informiert fühlen Die Medien gelten zwar als vierte Instanz im Staat, der das Primat der Meinungsbildung zugesprochen wird. Aber werden sie ihrem Ruf gerecht Was macht den Journalismus im Allgemeinen aus und inwieweit unterscheidet er sich von seinem konfliktsensitiven Pendant Welche Funktionen können die Medien innerhalb eines Konflikts einnehmen Durch welche Faktoren wird diese Arbeit beeinflusst Die Analyse dieser Fragen soll schließlich zur Erkenntnis darüber führen, ob die Umsetzung eines konfliktsensitiven Journalismus als realistisch zu betrachten ist. Um einen begrifflichen Rahmen für diese Arbeit zu stecken, sollen an dieser Stelle einige Definitionen angeführt werden: Die Begriffe konfliktsensitiver Journalismus und Friedensjournalismus werden im Folgenden synonym verwendet. Die Krise ist als Kontinuum zwischen Konflikt und Krieg bzw. als zugespitzer Konflikt mit der Gefährdung dominanter Ziele und ungewissem Ausgang zu begreifen. Die Krisenberichterstattung thematisiert demnach ebenso die Vor- und Nachkriegszeit (vgl. Bilke 2008: 140f). Die vorliegende Arbeit soll einen Überblick über das doch noch recht junge Forschungsfeld des konfliktsensitiven Journalismus geben. Als herausragend sind die sehr profunden Systematisierungen zur Konzeption und Qualitätsmerkmalen des Friedensjournalismus von Nadine Bilke zu nennen. Bevor die Rolle der Medien in der Krisenberichterstattung zwischen Mittäter und Mediator, d.h. zwischen kriegsfördernd und vermittelnd zwischen Konfliktparteien, genauer diskutiert werden, erfolgt eine Analyse der Charakteristika beider Konzepte. Es folgten weitere, wenn auch kleinere Prozesse, in denen diverse Täter ihre gerechte Strafe erhielten. Doch das Chaos in der Nachkriegszeit eröffnete Fluchtwilligen die Möglichkeit unterzutauchen und ein neues Leben in Übersee aufzubauen. Schnell verbreitete sich das Gerücht, die alten Kameraden hätten eine Untergrundorganisation gegründet, mit Hilfe derer tausende Nazis aus Deutschland gerettet werden sollten. Namen wie Die Spinne , Stille Hilfe oder ODESSA wurden zu Synonymen der Fluchthilfe und suggerierten verschwörerische Machenschaften. Bald rankten sich sagenumwobene Legenden um die Flucht der einzelnen Nazi-Größen und um den Verbleib des so genannten Nazi-Goldes. Lateinamerika, hierbei insbesondere Argentinien, avancierte Jahre später in Presse und Romanen zum Paradies für Kriegsverbrecher. Im Zentrum der argentinischen Fluchthilfe wurde der hiesige Präsident und Nazi-Sympathisant Juan Domingo Perón verortet. Hierfür konnten jedoch bisher keine stichhaltigen Beweise erbracht werden, da die einschlägigen Archive unter Verschluss gehalten beziehungsweise vernichtet worden waren. So lebt der Mythos weiter: die Existenz einer weltumspannenden Geheimorganisation mit Verstrickungen zwischen ehemaligen Nazi-Schergen, dem Vatikan, dem Internationalen Roten Kreuz, Geheimdiensten und Regierungsvertretern. In der vorliegenden Bachelorarbeit wird zunächst die Entwicklung der deutschen Einwanderung in Argentinien skizziert. Es folgt ein politischer Abriss der Ära Peróns um schließlich den Mythos der ODESSA, der Organisation der ehemaligen SS-Angehörigen, auf seinen Wahrheitsgehalt zu untersuchen. Dabei möchte ich durch die Analyse der Realien, auf die sich diese Verschwörungstheorie begründet, d.h. Typus der Auswanderer, Fluchtrouten und Helfer, zur Entkräftung beziehungsweise Bejahung einer derartigen Geheimorganisation kommen. Deadlines are considered to be accomplished on time. The clock drives us to undertake a certain amount of tasks during the day. In Western societies time is considered as resource, which can be spent, saved or lost. Thus, it represents a force, which drives our lives. Timetables and calendars create the feeling of time pressure. This phenomenon implies a big gap between the time an individual lives and the one the same person feels inside like a body clock. Hence, especially in task-oriented management, issues concerning time occur. Furthermore, cultural differences cause a variation of time perceptions. In fact, social time, as a culturally determined interpretation of time, has a great impact on business culture. On the one hand, the sense of social time influences expatriate managers going overseas, who have to adapt the local time perception; on the other hand, it concerns leaders, who have to juggle with two time perceptions in order to organize cross-border collaborations. Punctuality serves as prime example for time perception. While in Western Europe timekeeping represents a virtue, in Southern Europe dates are treated rather flexible.The time perception of cultural groups varies even more. Monochronicity and polychronicity embody the main perspectives of time. Therefore, their origin and impact will be explained in general as well as in terms of managerial behaviour. After classifying the cultural clusters established by the GLOBE study, the example of the Confucian Asia will be contrasted with Western Europe. Further on, the case study of China serves as prime example of Confucian Asia to underline the influence of the local time perception on the present leadership style. Finally, a behavioural guideline for leaders concerning time perception shall create a harmonious overall picture of this work. Since this paper does not have the extent to scrutinize the influence of all cultural dimensions on leadership style, I chose the issue of time perception, because so far this aspect has been rather neglected in research. The following investigations are supposed to give a guideline to time awareness in general. By analysing the case of China, difficulties and potentials of varying time perceptions regarding managerial success shall be examined. 40 pp. Englisch.
