This volume has a further inscription 'from Geoffrey Hill.' on the front flyleaf; it retains is original red embossed cloth publisher's binding - a very good copy. To 'Alastair', Hill offers 'D.S.Savage. it has a chapter on Hart Crane.' this is a first edition in chipped jacket, perhaps gifted from Hill's personal library. PROVENANCE: From the collection of a retired University of Leeds academic. Widely admired by fellow poets, by critics and by serious readers of poetry, Geoffrey Hill was a poet with many and passionate admirers, for whom his now substantial oeuvre represents one of the great poetic achievements of the last hundred years.
